| The existing low level crossing had been upgraded with four 3,5 x 2,0m Armco pipe arch culverts. During subsequent extreme flood conditions the culverts were damaged and the approach road washed away. The rehabilitation consisted of repairing the Armco structures and reconstructing the approach fills. This was achieved using a soil cement backfill to the culverts and cladding the approach road in reinforced concrete. Additional erosion protection methods using gabion cages and mattresses were placed both upstream and downstream of the crossing. | |||
